Professional mushers from all over the world converge on West Yellowstone in early January to train their teams at high elevation in preparation for the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race. We organized the “Fun Run” as a warm-up for the IPSSSDR and to allow local and regional mushers a chance to test their teams against some of the best sled dogs in the world.
The “IPSSSDR” is the largest sled dog race in the lower 48 states, attracting the top names in mushing with cash prizes of $160,000. The race starts in Jackson, Wyoming, then teams travel to a new town each day to run another leg of the race. 2014 will be the 19th year for the “IPSSSDR” and the second year that West Yellowstone will be included in the race.
The race trail for the West Yellowstone leg will start downtown on Yellowstone Ave. at 9:00am on Sunday, February 2, 2014.
